Fire Medallion

Using fabric paint with stencils, featuring Fire

Fabric Creations soft fabric ink in 26187 metallic pure gold was used with the Fire stencil to make this Fire Medallion. The Fire knot was stenciled four times, with the loops overlapping to create a larger knot. This will work for a block size from 20" to 24".

Crayola fabric markers and Crayola Glitter markers in blue and green were used to fill in and separate the strands of the Fire knot. The gold stenciling already provides the interweaving lines. A Black Micron Pigma pen was used for the dashed lines that separate the gold stenciling from the blue or green markings.

Fire Medallion outlined quilted

Outline quilting the stenciled Fire Medallion makes it appear like appliqued bias.

Fire Medallion with background quilting

This closeup of Fire Medallion shows the machine quilted pebbling and random line design used for the background fabric. The quilting was done in a matching color rayon thread.

Repeat this Medallion layout with the three other stencils: Wind, Water and Earth for a similar effect. Each stenciled Medallion would fit into a 20" to 24" block, perfect for use in a four block style bed quilt.
