Scarlett's Patchwork Quilt Patterns

Revised July 18, 2008

There are many quilts that I have made that may or may not find their way into a book.  I decided that publishing them as packaged patterns would be a good way for me to make these designs available quickly. Have a look at all of my Celtic applique patterns that are available as printed patterns or visit e-patterns to see what's available for immediate purchase and downloading.

There's alot on this page, so please be patient while it loads.  There are more patterns on Patterns, Too,  so please have a look them, too!

[Autumn Splendor pattern]
Autumn Splendor

#213 - $9.00

33" (84cm) square wallhanging

This new paperpieced pattern uses the same template for all the leaves, just the placement of the fabrics changes!  This is a tessellating design, so the leaves interlock. There are 81 blocks in this wallhanging, set 9 x 9. Yardages are also given for a 66" (168cm) lap quilt and a 99" (251cm) bed quilt.  Pattern includes a leaf design for machine quilting:

Here's another coloration that I did of this pattern, for use this Christmas!

[Christmas Splendor wallhanging]

I used the border fabric for the corners, rounding off the center of the design.  This sample was done with the 6"(15cm) template, set 5 x 5, making this a 42" (107cm) wallhanging.  I'm thinking of adding embellishments to this, once I decide how I'm going to machine quilt it!

Here's the bed quilt size, done with scraps.  No two yellows, greens, rusts, oranges or browns are the same! I also put a prairie point border on this quilt, using assorted black prints.

Now on to the next pattern:

[Scarlett's Double Wedding Ring]

Scarlett's Double Wedding Ring

#212 - $9.00

54" (137cm) square

This is entirely paper pieced, with straight lines! No curves to cause problems!!  It's sewn as a 12" block, with a 9" border.  The included quilting design is a feathered cross.  The pattern includes 4" and 6" blocks for those who would like to make this in miniature.

Here's a sample done in red and green scraps, with machine embroidered butterflies scattered across the whole quilt.

[Scarlett's Double Wedding Ring with butterflies]

This sample was machine quilted by Donna Jones. I bound the edges so they are scalloped, a variation for Scarlett's Double Wedding Ring design.  The green fabric showing along the top edge is the sleeve for hanging the quilt.

There's a spiderweb quilted in each large background space and stipple quilting in the smaller space. This is a close-up that shows the embroidery in detail.  Where did that praying mantis come from?

[Sixty Years of Remembrances]

Sixty Years of Remembrances

#211 - $9.00

101"(256cm) square

I inherited some blocks from my grandmother, Irene Rose and kept them for many years until I could decide what to do with them.  Now that reproduction fabrics are available, I created this quilt to use those special blocks.  I set the old blocks with new, alternating them so that I could balance out the old blocks.  Some had not been made very well and had really different fabric choices, so I wanted to make them look the best they could by mixing them with another block design.  I collected signatures from family and friends for the new blocks, so that's what gave me the idea for the name of this quilt.  Betty McFadyen hand quilted this quilt for me in trade from one of my quilt tops.

I've also used this pattern to make a Millenium Quilt, the first of several different quilts that I want to do for the new century.

[Year 2000 Remembrances quilt]

I machine embroidered the Effiel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben of London and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the Vice President's blocks instead of collecting signatures.  The border fabric is the Hollywood skyline, a printed fabric that also has other skylines:  New York, Seattle, San Francisco, etc., on it.

[Retreat Three Medallion Quilt]

Retreat Three Medallion

#210 - $9.00
88" (224cm) square

The name of this quilt comes from a quilter's retreat that I went to some years ago.  We all made blocks to exchange.  The pattern we did was Spools and Shuttles.  This design was my way of setting those blocks together, along with others I made, so the finished quilt would be double bed size.  Even though the same red solid was used in mine, it would look great if different reds were used.  That would make the quilt completely scrappy, except the border!

There's a variation on another page, Laurie Short's quilt.  Click here if you wish to return to my index page.

[Presents Quilt]

Presents

#209 - $9.00
48" square

This is the next brand new pattern.  This was a design I drew up some years ago and submitted to a contest.  It wasn't accepted, so it went back into my binder until this year.

[An Ocean of Fishes quilt]

An Ocean of Fishes

#208 $9.00
48" (122cm) square

I was playing with some traditional block designs, and saw that one turned on point could be a fish.  Then I thought that mixing different sizes would be great, as well as using more than one fabric for the background.  This is my first quilt to be totally designed on my computer!
