Of the four fabrics used in this sample, three were cotton lames: a bright blue, a gold and a greenish bronze. The printed fabric was a marbelized design in greens, blues and golds. All the fabrics were made into bias strips and used as insets. The marbelized print had swirls that were fussy cut to fit into the peacock's feathers, giving the special effect you see in this picture. Different parts of the marbelized print had more blue, more green, etc., so the fussy cutting worked very well in creating distinctive tail feathers.
