Pacific International Quilt Festival 2008
There were alot of Celtic quilts at this year's show in Santa Clara, California. Please be patient as the pictures load.
Celtic Fantasy by Diane Abram of England
85.5" x 61"
This quilt won first place for England in the World Quilt & Textile Competition. It was shown at PIQF as part of the tour for the World Quilt entries. The eight block designs are from Philomena Durcan's books, Celtic Quilt Designs and Children of Lir. The designs in the top and bottom borders are adapted from Gail Lawther's book, Celtic Quilting. Diane drafted the designs in the triangles herself. The serpents in the side borders are from designs she found on a painted archway in Norway. All the designs are couched in gold thread.
