Pacific International Quilt Festival 2011 & 2012
There were two Celtic quilts and one Celtic decorated garment at the 2012 Pacific International Quilt Festival.
Leslie Peacock of Arizona made this machine embroidered jacket, Celtic Sunset. The back is also heavily decorated, but because the garment was hung on the back wall of the single garment area, no picture was possible.
Marakesj by Suzette Ehlers of South Africa. This 51" x 57" quilt is hand appliqued, hand pieced and hand quilted. The design is by Sue Prins and this is the second Celtic quilt made by Suzette to feature such elaborate Celtic designs. Please scroll down to the 2011 pictures to see Suzette's other Celtic quilt, Celtic Persian, in the same style.
Here's a closeup of Suzette's quilt. The whole surface was covered in intricate Celtic knotwork!
Simply Celtic by Anna Williams of New Zealand. This 40" square machine appliqued quilt features very fancy machine quilting in the open areas.
Here's a closeup showing the quilting and the knotwork.
There were many Celtic quilts at PIQF 2011 in Santa Clara, California. Please be patient as the pictures load.
