Using Babylock's new Sashiko machine, Scarlett stitched two of the San Kamon blocks on linen look fabrics. The first two are done on dark blue, the next two are on teal fabric. Three blocks were stitched with heavy white thread and the fourth was stitched with a varigated Sulky cotton thread.
October 10, 2009 - Christine Johnson's work in progress on a harvest version of the San Kamon pattern, using one of the block designs made with three different fabrics. She laid them out on this rich pumpkin harvest print by Timeless Treasures.
Christine is using Fairy Frost fabrics for the background blocks and the bias. Here are closeups of the blocks she's made:
Here's the second block Christine has hand appliqued.
Here's the third block. Christine used only one of the San Kamon block designs, choosing instead to make three versions of the same block.
Here's a couple closeups, showing a block from the San Kamon pattern sample wallhangings so you can see how different it looks appliqued or embroidered.
The multicolor print for the border & lattice in the applique version is Yoshiko by Blank Quilting. The exact fabric pattern is #BTR-M4590.
Here's the same design in the embroidered version. It was hand quilted inside the embroidered lines.
