The Spool Block Gallery

There are only two patch shapes needed for this easy to piece block, a square and a right triangle. Make this block with the 2" finished size of both patches for an 8” finished block. This is a very common size to cut from 2 1/2” jelly rolls and also uses up small scraps.

If you want to use a larger size for the square and right triangle, then your
finished block will be bigger and require larger scraps. A chart showing how the patch sizes will affect the finished quilt size is included in the pattern, ranging from using 1 to 6 inches finished for the square and triangle.

Along with the instructions for cutting and piecing this block, there are full color quilt charts showing the Spool block in several different quilt sizes. Make coasters, mug rugs & potholders too! See how arranging the Spool block in different ways can create a whole new look. Quilt charts are provided in color, but any quilt could be done in lights and darks, regardless of color.
